Celtel launches Mobile Top-upCeltel SL on Monday 16th July 2007 introduced another value added product to our numerous subscribers at a colourful event at the British Council. The Marketing Director, Bernard Sisay, told guests that included Celtel partners, dealers and journalists that with the launch of the Mobile Top-up (electronic voucher recharge) Celtel was continuing to live up to its promise to make life better for its valued customers. He said the new technology allowed for the electronic recharge by Celtel subscribers without the usual top-up cards. Mr. Sisay said the new product would serve to complement Celtel’s commitment to the development of the telecommunications industry in Sierra Leone. ‘Celtel gives you the ease and comfort to top-up your phones anytime, wherever and whenever’. Amidst applause the Marketing Director introduced the 30 units top-up, priced at Le900 and which is available only on the new system and not on scratch cards. He reviewed the company’s recently reduced international voice call tariffs noting that Celtel is the most affordable and reliable network, priding itself in taking quality to its customers. The Sales and Distribution Director, Keith Tukei, explained to the audience how the new technology works. He said the most important point was that our customers could now top-up their phones via SMS through the Celtel network. There are super dealers who sell to sub-dealers who in turn sell to retailers. The retailers sell directly to the subscribers. ‘This is a convenient and cost effective way to credit a subscriber and it is suited to meet business and low income needs,’ he pointed out. Keith said Celtel dealers would no longer have to worry about transporting heavy bags of top-up cards from one point to the other with all the risks and hassles connected to it. In fact, there would be no need for expensive phones to conduct mobile top-up transactions from the super dealer right through to the subscriber. Mr. Akin Macauley, President of the Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture officially launched the mobile top-up. He encouraged all to try this new Celtel innovation. Mobile top-up vouchers are available in the following denominations: 30units (Le900); 50units (Le1500); 250units (Le7500); 500units (Le15,000), 1000units (Le30,000) 5000units (Le150,000) and 10,000 (Le300,000).
