
The handing over of the house to the winner of celtel win a house promotion 
Saturday 21st October was a day that brought the realization of a dream in the life of Claudette Amuzu, - 26 year old student of College of Medicine who happen to be the lucky winner of a newly constructed Le 300 million house star prize of Celtel’s “Win a house” promotion held in January 2006. It was indeed a colorful and joyous ceremony with the Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone being the presenter of the keys of the house to the winner. In his statement the Chairman of the Telecoms Commission Kanji Daramy said that the occasion was a true manifestation of corporate social responsibility which goes beyond satisfying the customer. He also said that the winner has not just won a shelter but has won one of a special and different niche. The Vice President Solomon Berewa said that Celtel is rendering a magnificent service in Sierra Leone and are able to do so because of the stable political environment in which they operate in. He said that the government is grateful to Celtel for not only providing good communication which facilitates both private and official business link to the door step but also for its immense contribution to community development projects. Managing Director Ted Sauti-Phiri said that Celtel has invested Seventy Five Million United States dollars in Sierra Leone and Celtel will continue to invest in order that they will be able to provide a reliable and world class service to its customers. The Marketing Director Bernard Sisay said that the ceremony marks the conclusion of a long journey which started on the 2nd of October 2005 as part of the company’s fifth anniversary celebration. He said the promotion had twelve weekly draws both in the provinces and Freetown and ended with the final draw on the 7th of January in which Ms Claudette Amuzu won the star prize of a house worth Le 300 million which was constructed within a record time of nine months. In her vote of thanks the proud winner of the house said that this dream started with a phone call, and Celtel has not only given her a gift but one of a unique kind. Comic relief from the famous comedian Vamboi with music from Prince of Wales Brass Band and performance from the National Dance Troupe climaxed the occasion.
