Presentation of a 13.5 kva generator to Radio Moa in Kailahun

The Presentation Ceremony of a 13.5 KVA generator to Radio Moa in Kailahun started around 3:00pm on the 10th of June 2006. This programme attracted local authorities and inhabitants from the surrounding villages.

Chief Banya in his welcome address commended Celtel for the numerous good will rendered to the Kailahun community. He expressed gratitude and thanks on behalf of the whole region.

In his response statement, the Marketing Director, Bernard Sisay said that the aims and objectives of Celtel does not only centre around the provision of good quality telecommunication services but also include cooperate social responsibilities. The vision of the company is ‘Making Life Better’ to all its stakeholders. This vision is being portrayed by the presentation of a 13.5 KVA generator to provide power supply support to the radio station- Radio Moa. He said that making investment in the social lives of the community is one of the main objectives of Celtel. He also stated that Celtel do value the relationship with the media community. The sponsoring of the SLAJ conference in Kenema and the presentation of a generator is an indication of maintaining good relationship with the media. He concluded by formally handing over the key to the generator to Chief Banya who in turn handed it to the one of the radio station representatives.

In the statement of Station Manager, he expressed thanks and appreciation to Celtel for the generator and all other good will rendered. He said that the station has been constrained by lack of sufficient power supply which often caused the station to go without operation for considerable number of days. He also said that the time of the generator presentation was right as it coincides with the selection of new members of the Board of Directors of Radio Moa. He concluded by promising on behalf of the youths to take good care of the generator.
