15th December 2006, Celtel Premier Music AwardsCPMA, the now annual musical extravaganza in Sierra Leone took place on 15th December, 2006 at the National Stadium main bowl. The show stared at 9:30 pm with a display of fireworks that captivated the entire audience. Mr. Bernard Sisay, the Marketing Director representing the sponsor, Celtel gave the opening remarks by highlighting the importance of music in bringing love and togetherness in the society. He said that in a bid to foster unity, Celtel decided to bring Africa’s greatest artist 2face Idibia of the ‘African Queen’ fame to celebrate alongside Sierra Leonean stars. A total of fifteen artists across various categories were awarded a cash prize of $2,000 each plus a trophy. The show that had approximately 25,000 people in attendance was full of cheers and ululations as they cheered one artist after another throughout the show that came to an end at 4:30 in the morning. Celtel Premier Music Awards show has distinguished itself as the greatest music show among the funs and artists in terms of prizes given and organization, hence everyone looks up to it every year.
